Planning to Build in Berkshire? Don’t Skip the Structural Report

From Reading and Windsor to Newbury and Wokingham, Berkshire is a popular county for property upgrades - especially extensions and loft conversions. But before you dive into your project, there’s one crucial step that shouldn’t be overlooked: the structural report.

Why a Structural Report Matters for Extensions and Loft Conversions

Whether you’re adding a rear extension in Ascot or converting a loft in Maidenhead, any alteration to your property’s structure needs to be safe, compliant, and professionally assessed. A structural report evaluates the existing framework of your home, identifies potential issues, and ensures your design can be safely supported.

What Does a Structural Report Cover?

A structural inspection typically includes:

  • Assessment of load-bearing walls, beams, and foundations

  • Identification of any cracks, subsidence, or structural movement

  • Recommendations for reinforcement or redesign where needed

This report is essential for gaining building control approval and avoiding costly issues later in your build.
